Yorkville Toronto: Luxury Shopping, Fine Dining & the Upscale Neighbourhood Guide
Yorkville is Toronto's most prestigious neighbourhood — an enclave of luxury boutiques, fine dining restaurants, five-star hotels, and art galleries that has been the city's upscale social hub since the 1960s, when it was the epicentre of Canada's counterculture movement before its transformation into the Rodeo Drive of the north. The collision of those two histories gives Yorkville an interesting character: genuine luxury coexisting with memory of creative rebellion, high-end retail alongside excellent independent galleries.
The neighbourhood's commercial streets — Bloor Street West, Hazelton Avenue, and Yorkville Avenue — host flagship stores of virtually every major luxury brand operating in Canada: Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Chanel, Tiffany, and Canadian luxury brands like Holt Renfrew (the department store occupying a prominent corner). The area is also home to Toronto's highest concentration of art galleries, including several that represent significant Canadian and international contemporary artists in beautifully designed spaces. The Hazelton Lanes complex has been redeveloped as an upscale retail and residential destination.
For food and dining, Yorkville delivers some of Toronto's most consistently excellent fine dining alongside excellent casual options. The Four Seasons Toronto and Hazelton Hotel both house destination restaurants, and independent fine dining establishments have found the neighbourhood's customer base supports serious tasting menus and impressive wine programs. The neighbourhood also has several of Toronto's finest hotel bars for an elegant cocktail. Yorkville is served by the Bay and Bloor-Yonge subway stations, placing it directly in the heart of Toronto's transit network.
