High Park Toronto: Cherry Blossoms, Trails & Weekend Nature Escape
High Park is Toronto's largest public green space — 161 hectares of forested trails, a zoo, sports facilities, Grenadier Pond, and the city's most beloved cherry blossom spectacle every April and May. The park sits in the west end at the Bloor-High Park subway stop. The cherry trees typically bloom for just 1–2 weeks in late April, drawing massive crowds — arrive early on weekday mornings for the most peaceful viewing. Year-round, the park offers 15+ kilometres of trails through oak savannah, a rare ecosystem in Ontario. The Dream Site hosts the beloved Shakespeare in High Park outdoor theatre (July–August, free). Grenadier Pond is a peaceful winter skating rink and year-round birdwatching spot. The High Park Zoo (free) houses bison, llamas, peacocks, and Highland cattle. Walk south along Roncesvalles Avenue after the park for Polish pierogies and independent cafés.
